Frequently Asked Questions

  • AM I A CANDIDATE FOR COSMETIC DENTISTRY?

You may be a candidate for cosmetic dentistry if
you are unhappy with the appearance of your current teeth and would prefer to change and enhance the aesthetic of your smile.

It is important to recognize that cosmetic dental treatments are not meant to alter your overall appearance, but rather to provide a positive change that compliments the health and natural appearance of your teeth. If you think cosmetic dentistry is right for you, contact Smile Essentials today to schedule a consultation.

  • WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY COSMETIC TREATMENT?

    Composite Bonding

Generally, composite bonding is a painless procedure and does not require local anesthesia. It typically requires only one visit.

    Porcelain Veneers

Before dental veneers can be placed on the teeth, their surface must be prepared for bonding. After administering a local anesthetic,  your dentist be as conservative as possible when prepping for your veneers.

They will then be scanned by our digital scanner so that we can design your veneers digitally and fabricate them in our in-house lab.

You will leave the initial appointment with temporary veneers, which will allow you to evaluate their color and shape. We then can collaborate on the design of your permanent veneers.

Once we have finished hand-crafting your custom veneers, you’ll return to Smile Essentials to have them fitted, bonded, and to make any final adjustments.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

  • WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER RECEIVING A COSMETIC TREATMENT?

It is normal to feel some mild sensitivity after your cosmetic treatment. Using sensitivity toothpaste or over-the-counter pain medication may help.

Treat your cosmetic restorations like your natural teeth and avoid biting your nails, opening packages, holding things in your mouth, etc. Even though they are durable, you run the risk of accidentally chipping them.

Avoid eating hard, chewy, or sticky foods with your temporaries.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
